Hello lovelies, today I have a colourful design inspired by @Talialouisenails. We did a mani-swap where she recreated my abstract tree design and I recreated this gorgeous rainbow gradient using nail foils (and didn’t use any gel polish at all!!)
Check out my Youtube video below to see the trick!
She recreated my abstract tree design, perfect for the holidays! You can check out my post and watch the video showing how I created it here
For this design I used the trick of using water-based (peel-off) base coat over the foils to prevent the cracking that always results from non-water-based top coats. Once the base coat is dry, just apply a regular or quick-dry top coat over it to seal everything in and you’re set to go!
This trick means you don’t have to worry about investing in a bunch of gel polishes and a UV lamp just to use foils and those cool mirror and holographic powders you see everywhere these days.
Fun fact (?), I actually thought I invented the technique of using UNT’s peel off base coat as a topper to stop the foils from cracking. I was super excited to be able to contribute something brand new to the nail art community. Then I opened Insta and saw about a dozen posts with the same idea. Sigh…
Stay tuned for a bonus extra version of this design coming tomorrow!
