Hi lovelies, I’ve got a fun half moon stamped chrome design today. This design again uses a stamping plate I received in exchange for my honest review.
I used a gold chrome powder (which turned green for some reason?) over a black base. Since I don’t have a gel system I used a water based peel-off base coat before applying a quick-dry top coat. This is the same trick I use for foils to prevent them from cracking with the top coat, and it works pretty well for the chrome powder as well.
I’ve since also discovered another trick of using a sticky base coat before the chrome powder (on top of the base polish) to help the powder stick better and apply more smoothly.
I purchased the powder from the Born Pretty Store, which also provided the stamping plate for review. The plate is BP-L051 and has a lot of really pretty mandala designs in small and large sizes. I really like this plate a lot, and I find that it stamps really well. And I was actually able to use my clear stamper, which doesn’t always work that well depending on the polish and the plate used.
I don’t have a video for this design since it was my first time messing around with chrome powder. But I will have a video for a chrome powder design at some point though. I’m still playing around with how they look over various base colours and how to get them perfectly even and shiny. I kinda love and hate them at the same time – so pretty, but so so messy… 🙂
Anyway, if you’re looking for a pretty mandala plate this is a good one, and the price is really good. My previous comments around shipping still stand though, so, ya know, there’s that.
Also I lied before and I actually received three plates and not two because apparently counting is difficult, so I have one more design (my first reverse stamping design!!) coming up soon. Just gotta finish up editing the video, which always takes 1,000 times longer than the art itself. This is 85% due to procrastination and 15% due to the time it actually takes to do the editing.
Bye!
L
