Hello! I can’t believe I’m already five weeks in.
Training the week of May 24th to 30th looked like this:
- Sunday: easy 6k recovery run and suspension yoga
- Monday: strength with weights
- Tuesday: 10k with 6 x 1 minute fartleks at a 5:00-ish pace
- Wednesday: body-weight strength and hot yin yoga
- Thursday: 6k followed by 6 strides
- Friday: rest
- Saturday: 21k run
Total distance: 44 kms (27.3 miles)
Total yoga: two classes
Total strength: two workouts
This week’s long run was 21k, and the weather was much more temperate compared to last week. Also, since I technically traveled 21k last week due to my misjudged distance it was the exact same route. I think I need to start mixing it up a bit more.
The poplar fluff has thankfully calmed down, and now the trails are full of the scent of blooming flowers (couldn’t even begin to tell you which kinds, though).
I feel like the scrolling matches the green, floral state of the River Valley really well 🙂
Today’s run is the 16th annual 7k Run Wild for Wildlife out at the John Janzen Nature Centre. I used to love going there as a kid but haven’t been back for ages. There’s also a Migratory Bird Festival (but hopefully no Canada geese!) after the run with face painting and activities for the littles (and the bigs too, I suppose).
C is joining me so it won’t be a run for time (and since this is my recovery run it wouldn’t be anyway, I just like using him as an excuse ;)). I’ll post an update tomorrow, but I’m excited to run at Fort Edmonton since it’s not on my typical route.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
