I’m a nerd.
Anyway… check out this spooky “lost souls” Halloween nail art design!
I started with a black and gray gradient over a gray base, deliberately avoiding blending them perfectly to create a foggy effect.
After the gradient was to my liking, I applied a layer of quick-dry top coat and let that set for half an hour. I then used black acrylic paint to paint two figures – a child and a tall man. This is actually a pretty easy design as the shapes for the figures are pretty basic, but the point of applying a top coat before the acrylic is that you can then easily scrape away any mistakes until you get the shape you want.
I really like how the child figure ended up looking, with the streakiness (is that a word? spellcheck says no) that makes it look more ghost-like.
I added dots of white acrylic paint as the eyes, and that’s what makes these so creepy – they look human but have that creepy reflective thing animals have going on when you shine light in their eyes.
With the black at the bottom, the lost souls seem to fade into the gloomy fog. Suitably creepy for Halloween, I think!

How are you doing your nails for Halloween? Mine are going to be “truly outrageous.” Truly, truly outrageous.
