Jumping on the five things Friday bandwagon – here are five things that happened or piqued my interest this week!
I started a blog. That happened. I’m enjoying it so far, but am finding that brevity is not one of my skills. I write, then go back and cut a bunch out, and then still end up with fairly long posts. I blame consulting, where the “thump factor” is a thing. I’ll work on it.
Snow. In May. I know I shouldn’t be surprised, after all May long weekend is usually cold and unpleasant and yet we always insist that it’s the first camping weekend of the summer. You can even still snowboard on May long!
Interesting read about GMOs and industrial farming over at lifehacker. Whether you’re for or against GMOs this piece has a lot of thought-provoking points and is worth the read.
When I run (or do any type of workout, really), I always listen to audio books rather than music. Last week I finished listening to Ready Player One by Ernest Cline, as read by Wil Wheaton (you know, the lovable scamp Wesley Crusher from ST:TNG). I loved listening to this book during my recent runs, and was sad when it ended (though not as a result of the ending, which was great). Wheaton does a terrific job of bringing Wade to life and the book is full on action, sarcasm, and ’80s gamer nostalgia the whole way through.
I’m sure I disturbed other runners when I laughed out loud or grinned like a maniac when Cline touched on things that were particularly fond memories from my own childhood. If you’re a child of the ’80s or a gamer, this is a definite recommend.
All the yoga. I bought a two-week unlimited pass at Soul Fitness yoga in St. Albert so I’ve been hitting up every class I can to see what’s what. Once the pass expires I’ll buy a monthly or ten-class pass so I can keep with the suspension or restorative classes that feel so good.
That’s a wrap for this week!
