I have a couple designs for New Years’ this year – the first is this New Years’ Eve confetti design using water decals.
The use of the black over the water decals results in a sort-of negative space look, which works as take on cute New Years’ confetti. Check out the video below to see how I made this design (and see if you can guess what I got for Christmas!):
I have to admit this isn’t my favourite design ever. There’s something a little clown-like about it and you can really see the pixels in the water decals up close. It was inspired from my vague memory of this post by Victoria over at manicurator, which I like much more than my final look.
If you don’t have the water decals you could use a few colours of polish of your choice and a dotting tool, or even chunky glitter like my inspiration.
If you watch the video you’ll see a good demonstration of my inability to colour in the lines. I used an orange stick dipped in acetone to clean up my messes rather than a brush so I could easily manage the amount of acetone. I didn’t want to smudge the water decal too much so I didn’t want a wash of acetone to mess up the whole thing.
I’ll be back with my last design of the year soon – I’ve actually already done it and just love it. It’s a soft champagne-like design and I’m really happy with how it turned out and so excited to share it 😀
