This week in the ABC Challenge: J is for Jade

I was inspired for this week’s design by this jade stone:
I wanted to create the mottled layers of green and decided to try a watermarble approach. I used dark green, white, and black since I only have two shades of green polish and one was too grassy for this look.
The initial pass left the white looking too bright. I’d hoped it would break and bleed a bit, as it sometimes does when I don’t want it to, but no luck.
While I did like the way the marble turned out it wasn’t quite what I was going for. I decided to do another pass with the watermarble using just the dark green polish. This created a translucent layer to tone down the white.
The result was exactly what I was going for 🙂
Obviously, if you have more shades of green you can skip the double-dip process, but if you have limited resources this is a good way to adjust your look.
